Therapy integrates the various aspects of our lives and parts of ourselves as we move toward greater insight, power, freedom and authenticity — even through the most challenging times.

Individual Therapy

Your life is dynamic — a confluence of many aspects that are both universally human and uniquely part of your individual experience. I believe healing, change, and authenticity come through the integration of psychological, emotional, spiritual, social, professional, cultural, biological, moral and ethical aspects of life.

I use an existential approach to my work which goes beyond simply alleviating symptoms.  My job is to help you find freedom within life's constraints and discover agency where it feels like there are no choices. I want to understand your experiences and how they have shaped who you are so that you can make authentic meaning of your life and move forward with strength and integrity.

I work with independent adults (18+) living with, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Stress & Burnout
  • Relationship difficulty
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Spiritual distress
  • Lived experiences of trauma

Themes often involve freedom/constraint, responsibility, boundary, authenticity, meaning/meaninglessness, safety/risk, belonging/isolation, identity, power/powerlessness, and mortality.  I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

My practice is grounded in mind-body connection, and I  incorporate experiential practices to establish present-moment awareness and explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, sensations, and our life stories.

In addition to cash pay, I accept Aetna, Optum/United, and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurances in Oregon and Colorado.

COUPLES COUNSELING

In couples counseling, I incorporate a variety of frameworks, concepts and research, but I primarily use Gottman Method in conjunction with existential-humanistic psychotherapy. Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach based on four decades of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. My approach combines assessment, practical/tactical relationship skillbuilding, and existential therapy with goals to:

  • Disarm conflicting verbal communication
  • Increase intimacy, respect, and affection
  • Remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations
  • Create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship
  • Develop and strengthen a sense of shared meaning and life vision

Additional services include:

  • Pre-marital and early relationship counseling
  • Decision of whether or not to have children

TELETHERAPY

I currently am seeing clients through teletherapy. While I prefer counseling in-person, research has shown teletherapy to be equally as effective and the benefits to clients in terms of convenience and flexibility have proven themselves over time.

My passion for exploring what it means to be human drove me to the counseling field. My perspective is rooted in existential and humanistic philosophies, and deeply influenced by Buddhist and Yogic teachings.  I am a lifelong learner and, in the same way I have approached my own life, I approach clients' lives with openness, curiosity and compassion.  I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  Licensed in Oregon and Colorado.
